Vanessa Schukis has had a many-faceted career as a character mezzo, actor, stage director, choreographer, vocal coach, educator and administrator. She has performed a variety of operatic, oratoria and Broadway roles in the New England area and across the U.S. She has been a soloist and section leader at Old North Church in Boston, Massachusetts, for 27 years and a solist and cantor at St. Paul's Church in Wellesley Massachusetts for 16 years.
In addition to her perfomance career, Vanessa is an award-winning teacher with more than 30 years experience in performing arts education, with a focus on students with learning disabilites and special needs. She has served as guest and visiting faculty at teh New England Conseratory in Boston and the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
She is also the author of three children's books: Miss Sugar, Mr. Dimes, and Dallas and the Accordian. In 2013, Mr. Dimes was named Children's Book of the Year by bookemon.com.
